I'm George. I'm a tradesman, same as you. I run GWS Plumbing & Bathrooms in Dartford, Kent, and I've been on the tools for over ten years. Real jobs, real customers, the same VAT returns and the same quiet-month worry about where the next job's coming from.

For a long time I did what everyone does and paid the directories for leads. Leads sold to three other firms at the same time. Leads I paid for whether I won the job or not. I was building their business, not mine.

Do I actually own the website and my leads?

You own your domain, all your content, and every enquiry and customer record, provided as a full export any time you ask. We host and maintain the site itself, which is how bug fixes stay free and updates reach you fast. If you ever want to take the build away too, there's an optional one-off buyout.

Is there a contract or lock-in?

No long-term contract. There's a 3-month minimum to cover the build, then it's month to month. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice. We keep you because the work comes in, not because you're trapped.

How is this different from Checkatrade or Bark?

They rent you shared leads. The same enquiry goes to several firms, you pay per lead whether you win it or not, and you're tied in for a year. With OwnLead it's your own site and your own leads, one flat monthly fee, no per-lead charges, and you can leave when you like.

I'm not techy at all. Is that a problem?

Not in the slightest. You send a few details and photos at the start, and everything else is done for you. Leads arrive by text and email, your monthly report is plain English, and if anything needs changing you message one place and it's sorted.

Will you get me to the top of Google?

Anyone who promises a number-one ranking is having you on. Google doesn't sell guaranteed positions. What you get is proper local SEO, your Google Business Profile linked up, and optional managed ads with returns you can actually see.

How long until my site is live?

Usually one to two weeks from when we've got your details, photos and sign-off.

How much of my time will this take?

About 20 minutes up front for a short form and a quick chat, plus a look over the finished site before it goes live. After that, close to none.

What do you need from me to get started?

Is the free build offer real? What's the catch?

It's real. The £999 build fee is waived when you take a care plan, for the first 5 trades only. There's no catch beyond the standard 3-month minimum on the care plan. Once the slots are gone, they're gone.

Will you work with my competitors?

We won't build for a direct competitor in your own area while we're working with you. Your patch is your patch.

What if I want changes to the site later?

Care + Leads and Premium include a batch of content updates each month: new photos, tweaks, a new service. Bigger pieces of work we quote up front, so there are no surprises.

How do the leads actually reach me?

Straight to you by text and email the moment someone enquires, and they're stored in one place so you can see them all. There's a backup route built in, so a lead can't get lost.

Do I have to run ads?

No. Plenty of trades do well on the site and local SEO alone. Managed Google Ads is an optional add-on, and you pay Google directly for the ad spend.

What happens to my site if I leave?

You keep your domain and get a full export of your content and customer data. We wind things down gracefully and help you redirect, so your site doesn't just vanish. The optional buyout lets you take the build itself if you want it.
